Pointe au Baril Lion's Lobsterfest
The tremendously popular Lobsterfest is returning for its sixteenth year. For $30.00
enjoy two hot lobsters, butter, baked potatoes, rolls, salad, and dessert OR steak
OR surf and turf. Price includes the dance which features two live bands: The Michael
Granka Band and the Harris Brothers Band. This year's Lobsterfest is on Saturday,
July 17, 2004, at the Pointe Au Baril Community Centre. Make haste in getting your

Parry Sound Station Gallery
With the goals of increasing the public's understanding and consciousness of the
visual arts and preserving the C.P.R. station as a historical building, the Parry
Sound Station Gallery was formed in the year 2000. Located at 1 Avenue Rd., the
Station Gallery showcases and celebrates the work of artists of both local and international
acclaim. The station itself -which at one time welcomed King George VI and Queen
Elizabeth -proves to be an aesthetic treasure, with its conical "witch's hat" roof
and cedar shingle siding. Many exquisite art collections are exhibited year-round
at the Station Gallery. |

Festival of the Sound
World-renowned and celebrated, the yearly Festival of the Sound is always a highlight
of the summer season on Georgian Bay. Founded in 1980, by Anton Kuerti, the festival
showcases the best in classical and chamber music. Its three-week season is comprised
of fifty performances of different sizes and styles, as well as venues. While the
modern and stunning Charles W. Stockey Centre for the Performing Arts is the principal
venue, concerts are also held on the cruise ships the Island Queen and M.V. Chippewa,
as well as at the Inn at Manitou. Although mainly focussing on classical music,
the Festival also showcases the best in other genres as varied as jazz, big band,
and Celtic. Featured also are lectures, art exhibits, and live programme notes.

Poetry Bash
In August, award-winning and critically acclaimed entertainers of international
and local origins converge in Parry Sound to demonstrate their considerable lyrical
and literary skills. Returning organizers Katerina Fretwell - long-standing member
of the League of Canadian Poets, and Shelly Hazzard of Pointe au Baril - short-list
nominee for the 2002 CBC Literary Arts Award - will play host to poets from far
and wide, including many natives of Parry Sound. Please refer to the Poetry Bash

Chippewa Boat Cruises
The M.V. Chippewa, originally christened Maid of the Mist #3 and launched in 1955
to ply the raging Niagara River, was renamed the M.V. Chippewa and cruised Toronto
Harbour until her retirement in 1994. Now owned and operated by the Georgian Bay
Cruise Company, she continues to provide breathtaking views while plying the waters
of Georgian Bay. Enjoy wonderful cuisine during her sunset dinner cruises among
the world's largest, most beautiful concentration of Islands in the world. |

West Parry Sound District Museum
The West Parry Sound District Museum can be found at the base of Parry Sound's 96-foot
observation tower, at 17 George St., looking out over Georgian Bay. Themes of some
permanent exhibits include trapping, shipping, First Nations, logging, agriculture
and cottaging. New exhibits are brought in to their two temporary galleries every
four to eight weeks, encompassing every thing from anthropology to science to fine
arts. The West Parry Sound District museum is open Thursdays to Saturdays, 10 am
to 4 pm and Sundays, 1 pm to 4 pm. |

ATV Fall Jam
Billed as Canada's largest fall ATV jamboree, the inaugural edition of Fall Jam
is set to take off October 1st to 3rd of 2004. The Friday festivities start out
with registration and a Meet & Greet at the Foley Fall Fairgrounds in Seguin
Township - the event's headquarters. Later that night, guests will enjoy the ghost
stories of acclaimed author Terry Boyle as they huddle around a bonfire. Registrants
meet Saturday at the fairgrounds for breakfast, and then depart on a historical
tour of a former stagecoach route, the Seguin Trail. Dinner, as well as live entertainment,
will follow at the fairgrounds. Sunday will see the guests convening at the fairgrounds
early for a day of fun and competition. The day of events includes: the TRAX Challenge,
bog run, weight pull, and obstacle course. Spectators are welcome at this event,
which follows on the heels of the overwhelming success of past endeavour Spring

Art in the Park
For close to thirty years now, Parry Sound's annual art and craft show has delighted
all who have attended. The art show and craft sale features over 100 local and Canadian
artists and crafters displaying their wares, as well as food vendors and entertainment
- provided by the Parry Sound Theatre Group. Art in the Park takes place every summer
in Market Square Park in the downtown core of Parry Sound. Admission is free and
bus tours are welcome. The hours of operation are always 9a.m. to 5p.m. on Friday
and Saturday, and 10a.m. to 4p.m. on Sunday, rain or shine. |

Central Helicopters
Central Helicopters provides Adventure Tours and helicopter services in the Parry
Sound and Muskoka areas. Eight, fourteen, or twenty minute scenic tours are available,
as are personal helicopter charters to your destination of choice. Their Bell Jet
Ranger Helicopter can also take clients Heli-Fishing, Heli-Golfing, and Heli-Picnicking.
Central Helicopters' base, located at 58 Emily St., also offers an 18 hole miniature
golf course, nature trails for hiking, a Kids Playland, and a Picnic and Barbeque
area that is available for gatherings and special events. |

Seguin Valley Golf & Country Club
Seguin Valley Golf & Country Club is located 10 km south of Parry Sound, off
Highway 400 ( old 69 ), Badger Rd., exit 217. This public golf course is outfitted
with eighteen holes, and is par 72 with five sets of tees. Including electric golf
cart, daily green fees vary from $50.00 to $100.00. The Seguin Valley Golf &
Country Club opened up in June of 2003 , and was since rated the best new course
of 2003 by Tee it Up Ontario. |

Tugfest
Working and pleasure tugs from around the Great lakes will be flocking to the Parry
Sound Harbour August 28th and 29th, 2004 for the Georgian Bay Parry Sound Tugfest.
Come and give the hark-working, underappreciated tugboat the kudos it deserves.
Featured will be a Festival of Lights Parade, tugboat viewing, tugboat races, boat
tours, awards dinner, and much more. Whether you are participating in the events
or merely enjoying the spectacle, Tugfest 2004 promises to be pleasurable for all.

Seguin Recreational Trail
The Park-To-Park Trail route traverses a region rich in natural and cultural heritage.
Highlights include visible evidence of the logging and railway history of the area.
Early settlement villages and colonization roads are features common along the trail.
Physically, the trail passes numerous lakes, rivers and streams, as well as extensive
areas of forest, field and wetland habitat. A celebrated feature of the Park-To-Park
Trail is the Precambrian geology of the Canadian Shield. The trail cuts laterally
across the southern extent of the Shield exposing the glacially scarred granite
bedrock. |

Parry Sound Golf & Country Club
With a course rating of 132, a rating usually associated with championship length
courses, the Parry Sound Golf and Country Club is likely one of the most challenging
6,000 yard courses in Canada. It was designed by golf architect Thomas McBroom who
carved its 18 spectacular holes from virgin pre-cambrian shield on the shores of
scenic Georgian Bay.

Bobby Orr Hall of Fame
The accomplishments of Parry Sound's favourite son are chronicled and celebrated
in the Bobby Orr Hall of Fame, housed in the Charles W. Stockey Centre for the Performing
Arts. Learn about Bobby's beginnings in the town of Parry Sound, his meteoric rise
to hockey superstardom, and his continuing legacy of greatness. See memorabilia
like the stick and puck he used to score the Stanley Cup-winning goal of 1970, his
original locker from the Boston Gardens, two of his Stanley Cup rings and much more.
Also make time to see exhibits on recent Bobby Orr Hall of Fame inductees, the souvenir
shop, and skill-testing games. The Hall of Fame is open 7 days a week, 10 am to
6 pm

ATV Spring Jam
The Parry Sound Area, with its abundance of ATV trails and a population that is
somewhat predisposed to ATVing already, presents ideal conditions for the Spring
Jam Festival. The three-day-long festival includes such events as a Poker Jam, an
ATV Expo, guided tours of the area, and a concert. Show your skills at the TRAX
Challenge, and take part or simply watch the Rumble Ride parade through the streets
of Parry Sound. Become part of this always-rousing event as well as the Parry Sound
District ATV Club - the largest ATV Club in Ontario. |

RBC Parry Sound Dragon Boat Festival
The Annual RBC Parry Sound Dragon Boat Festival has swiftly become a town tradition,
drawing a multitude of teams as well as spectators to our area. Don't miss the fun
and excitement that are assured to all that participate. So come out and enjoy yourself
while supporting two worthy causes, the Parry Sound Rotary Club and the West Parry
Sound Health Centre. Yearly highlights include: live entertainment/beach party,
beer garden, vendors, dragon boat races, craft booths, dunk tank, children's activities

The Ridge at Manitou

Sportbike Festival
For over twenty years, Parry Sound has hosted the annual Sportbike Festival, where
motorcyclists from all over converge to share their love of the sport. The headquarters
are now at the Bobby Orr Community Centre, where you'll find registration, Moto
Expo, the Thunder Ride Cafe door prizes, seminars, awards ceremonies, and more.
Don't miss the many exciting events, like the Cycle Poker Ride, the Radar Run, the
Rock Hard Trial, and the Parry Sound Supermoto. Always a highlight is the World
Famous Thunder Run, where thousands of motorcycles parade their skills and their
finery to the public. Upwards of six thousands motorcycles participate in the event
yearly. |

Pointe au Baril Arts on the Bay
Music, poetry and art all combine to make Pointe au Baril's Annual Arts on the Bay
Dinner Theatre one of the most exceptional events of the season. On July 8th see
ecumenically-acclaimed vocalist Marc Dubois perform The Music Within, showcasing
his tenor voice in various Broadway selections. July 29th, Laura Shatz and Jason
Hales will take you on a musical journey from Pavarotti to the Pub, making stops
in various genres, such as jazz, folk, and Broadway. August 8th, Carol Feldstein
and Kevin Bradshaw unite to perform many Broadway musical favourites in Love Under
the Lights. Three art exhibits will be held throughout the summer as well as a Poet's

Deer Run Golf Course
Deer Run Golf Course first opened in 1995, has now expanded to an 18 hole facility.
Owned and operated by Dave Chalk, a local resident who decided in 1993 that with
the popularity of golf, Parry Sound nestled in the heart of cottage country could
support another public golf course. The original 9 holes boasts generous fairways
while the new 9 holes are tree-lined and nicely located near rivers, lakes, waterfalls
and marshes. |
